NAMIBIA ENHANCES PRESENCE IN GHANA AND BEYOND

Namibia’s participation at the 53rd General Assembly of the World Trade Centre Association in Accra, Ghana, has been lauded as a success by Lucia Iipumbu, the Minister of Industrialization and Trade.

This marked the first time the event was hosted in Africa, making the involvement of numerous African countries, including Namibia, particularly noteworthy.

Iipumbu praised Ghana’s government for extending the opportunity for Namibia to partake in the World Trade Centre Association.

During the General Assembly, Namibia engaged in various activities with the aim of attracting more investors and tourists to the country.

“We organized specific events alongside the General Assembly and actively participated in its official agenda. Although Namibia is not yet a WTCA member, we are contemplating joining and have initiated discussions with our local authorities to explore this possibility.”

Namibia utilized different platforms and dialogues, focusing on its tourism sector and presenting viable projects during business-to-business exchanges.

“Our projects cover areas such as agriculture, value addition, feed rods development, tourism, and manufacturing. We also presented plans for a cooling facility to support beef exports, catering not only to Namibian beef but also that from Botswana. Additionally, we discussed expanding salt exports to countries lacking natural salt resources.”

This concerted effort reflects Namibia’s commitment to enhancing economic opportunities and forging international partnerships.
